Information: Dropping in is an essential skill when learning how to skate transition (ramps). Although you don't need to know how to do any tricks before trying this, you should be very comfortable on your skateboard when trying this for the first time.
Description: The skateboarder stands on the top of a halfpipe, mini ramp, or quarter pipe with the tail of the board on the coping and the wheels hanging over onto the transition. They proceed to step on the board and roll down the surface of the ramp. Technique: 1. You should try riding on the ramp by starting from the bottom, just to get a feel for how it is.
2. When you are ready, go up to the top of the ramp. Place the tail of your board on the coping (metal pipe at the top) with your wheels hanging down and touching the riding surface of the ramp. Hold it there with your back foot and have your other foot on the top of the ramp.
3. Place your front foot over the truck bolts and get ready to drop in.
4. Push down on your front foot until your front wheels are on the surface of the ramp. If you push down to slow, you'll end up riding down on two wheels, and might fall.
5. Just ride, and that's it. Additional Help:
There aren't really any good tips on dropping in except for this: Most people don't lean forward enough when trying to drop in at first, and then they fall. To avoid this, make sure you push the front over your board all the way down onto the ramp, and do it quickly enough. Good Luck. |
